Technical Requirements For Shrapnel
- Nov 02, 2018 -

1. The radius of the bent portion. When the spring piece is formed, most of it is bent. If the radius of curvature of the curved portion is relatively small, these portions are subject to large stresses. Therefore, if you want to avoid large stresses in the curved part, you should design the bending radius to be at least five times the thickness of the plate.

2. Stress concentration at the notch or at the hole. The spring piece often has a stepped portion and an opening, and stress concentration will occur at a step where the size changes abruptly. The smaller the diameter of the hole, the larger the plate width, and the greater the stress concentration factor.

3. Spring plate shape and size tolerances. The leaf spring is often used for stamping. In design, the shape and size of the suitable stamping process should be considered. At the same time, the dimensional tolerances of the spring piece during the bending process and the deformation caused by the heat treatment should be fully considered.
